Volcanic Valerie

Identification
Volcanic Valerie is one of the larger Wingatui dragons, with rich purple scales that range from deep violet to the colour of lilac in bright sunlight. Despite her impressive size, she firmly believes that matching the colour of nearby flowers renders her completely invisible. This theory has yet to be supported by any independent observations.

Behavior
Confident, cheerful and blissfully unaware of her own proportions, Valerie can often be found attempting to conceal herself behind flowering shrubs, lavender bushes or clumps of purple irises. She remains perfectly still, convinced that if she can't see you, you certainly can't see her. Onlookers are frequently left wondering whether they should point out that most of her tail—and occasionally a wing—is still sticking out. So far, no one has had the heart.

Favorite Hiding Places
Behind lavender, pansies, agapanthus, irises, and any other purple-flowering plant, regardless of whether it is remotely large enough to hide a dragon.

Known Misdemeanors
Has startled countless gardeners by unexpectedly "appearing" from behind plants that were clearly far too small to conceal her. Occasionally responsible for flattened flower beds after enthusiastically squeezing into hiding places that simply don't fit.

Things to Avoid
Pretending not to notice her hiding place. Valerie is enormously pleased with herself when she believes her camouflage has worked, and it would be a shame to spoil her confidence. Simply admire the flowers, smile politely, and carry on as though there definitely isn't a large purple dragon peeking out from behind them.
